Start with the fact their own footer states and their marketing does not: BoardEffect is a Diligent brand. Every page carries "© 2026 Diligent Corporation", and Diligent sells it from diligent.com as the nonprofit and higher-education product in its range. If you are running a competitive process, BoardEffect and Diligent Boards are not two independent bids.
Taken on its own terms it is a focused, well-built board portal aimed squarely at mission-driven organisations, and for a North American nonprofit board it is a strong default. The distance from a GCC board is the one thing worth weighing: nothing on their site addresses Arabic, data residency outside their default region, or the Gulf at all.

What does it cost? Mithaq
Two plans are named with full feature lists and no figures: Pro and Plus. The only statement of the commercial shape is in that page's own meta description, not its visible copy: "The BoardEffect board portal is priced by tiers of users not individuals." No number appears anywhere on the page.

Is there an Arabic interface? They do not say
Not published either way. No occurrence of "Arabic" on their homepage, pricing page or security page, no hreflang tags, and no /ar/ path among the 993 content URLs. Product interface languages are not published, so we make no claim about them.

Can it run on our own servers, and where does the data sit? They do not say
Their security page names certifications and "robust physical data center security" but never names a hosting region, and the strings "cloud", "on-prem", "self-host" and "residency" do not appear on it. So: not addressed either way.

Can we try it before we commit? Mithaq
No. The word "trial" does not appear on their homepage, pricing page, security page or request-pricing page. Every route forward is a demo request, a contact form or a pricing request.

Is it an independent product? Comparable
No. Every page footer reads "© 2026 Diligent Corporation", and Diligent sells BoardEffect from its own product range as the nonprofit and higher-education option. Worth knowing before you treat a BoardEffect quote and a Diligent quote as two bids.

Is the site machine-readable for answer engines? Mithaq
Their served homepage HTML carries zero application/ld+json blocks and zero occurrences of the string schema.org, and the same holds on their pricing and security pages. It is a client-rendered app, so we can only speak to the HTML we fetched.

Where BoardEffect beats us
- Certifications, published and specific: ISO 27001, 27017 and 27018, SOC 1 and SOC 2, HIPAA and HITECH. Mithaq holds none of these and does not claim to.
- A customer base of a size we cannot approach. Their homepage states 5,000-plus customers and 260,000-plus users, with 24/7 support.
- Sector depth for nonprofits and universities specifically, backed by 823 blog posts and 106 guides. If your board is a US university trustee body, that library is written for you and ours is not.

Where their site does not answer a question we say so and mark the row "they do not say" rather than converting a gap in their publishing into a gap in their product. boardeffect.com publishes 993 content URLs across 8 sitemap files, of which 823 are blog posts and 106 are guides.
